Growing up, I drew a lot. Mostly copies of Disney characters. My high school art teacher was one of the worst teachers of my life, which was very sad, but I continued to draw and, at graduation, was runner up for a "prestigious" art award. I minored in Art in college, taking a handful of studio classes, but my passion turned to Art History. At that time, I began writing songs and performing music, so all of my creative energy went into my songwriting and my volatile early-20s relationships. Not much visual art during that time.
For the last 3 years I've worked as a curator at The Soundry, a wonderful little independent and eclectic art space in Vienna, VA. I could pontificate on the finer points of this glorious little experimental space, and I'm sure I will at some point, but suffice it to say, for our purposes here, The Soundry and the creatives that fill its lungs with their breath have had a great effect on me. They've inspired me to create visual art again--more specifically, the energy that I absorb by being there swirls around inside of me until it must come out, and, for the time being, it is choosing to come out in the form of oil paintings of rock stars. I don't know how else to explain it.
You will find a lot of my paintings in my Etsy Store, but please see my entire current collection, for viewing and for sale at WWW.ORIGINALVAGABONDS.COM.
